For this build in Grand Lake Colorado, we worked directly with the home owner to bring his ideas from concept to reality. He needed three separate projects from us. These consisted of an interior cable railing, an exterior cable railing, and a “floating” stair case.
How it’s Made
This project took place in two phases.
Phase one was the fabrication and installation of the stairs. We took a trip out to the job site to pull measurements, then returned to the shop and fabricated the stairs. Because of their weight, getting them installed required five people and the help of two specially fabricated winches. Luckily both sections fit perfectly!
Phase two included the fabrication and installation of the cable railing. We built parts in the shop and spent several days at the job site figuring out the complicated joinery piece-by-piece. Once everything was fully welded, we painted the railing on site and strung the cables. The carpenter installed the treads once our part of the job was complete.
